Leona Jackson Middle School Comprehensive School Safety Plan

At Jackson Middle School, the safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. Each year, we update and review our Comprehensive School Safety Plan (CSSP) to ensure a secure, welcoming environment where students can focus on learning.

What the Safety Plan Includes:

  • Emergency preparedness with regular drills (fire, earthquake, lockdown, evacuation, etc.)

  • Child abuse reporting and mandated staff training

  • Bullying prevention, anti-discrimination, and harassment policies

  • Clear guidelines for student discipline and restorative practices

  • Safe entry/exit procedures and visitor check-in through the RAPTOR system

  • Crisis resources on all student ID cards (suicide prevention, domestic violence, and text support lines)

Our Vision for Safety:
We believe every student deserves a safe and supportive campus. Jackson’s plan focuses on both prevention and response—helping students with attendance or discipline issues, creating positive behavior supports, and ensuring staff and community members work together to keep our campus safe.

Community and District Partnership:
The CSSP is developed with input from parents, staff, law enforcement, and first responders. We also collaborate closely with the Paramount Unified School District Safety and Security Department to improve emergency readiness.

Student Support and Well-Being:

  • School counselor and social worker available for students in need.

  • Programs to encourage positive behavior and provide early interventions.

  • Strategies like peer mediation, restorative practices, and school-based counseling.

  • Ongoing monitoring of attendance and support for families through SART and SARB processes.

Transparency and Access:

  • The CSSP is reviewed annually by March 1.

  • A summary of the plan is shared in the school’s accountability report card.

  • A full copy of the plan is available in the school office for parent review.
