Prepare for High School and College
Paramount Unified School District offers a variety of programs to ensure students are prepared for both high school and their post-graduation plans, whether it be a four-year university, community college, or a career.
- AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination): The AVID system is implemented across the district to help students prepare for college by strengthening their critical thinking, writing, inquiry, and organizational skills.
- Career Technical Education (CTE): CTE pathways connect high school classes to professional certifications, college, and the workforce. The CTE program includes various pathways such as Architectural Design, Biomedical Science, Computer Science, and Sports Medicine. These programs are taught by teachers with real-world industry experience.
- Early College Program: In partnership with Compton College, the Administration of Justice Early College Program allows students to earn a high school diploma and an Associate's Degree for Transfer at the same time for free.
- MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement): The MESA program offers a pathway for students interested in engineering and science, providing hands-on projects and opportunities to visit college campuses and work with professors and college students.
